Middle School Orientation:

Our annual Middle School Orientation for 5th grade students and parents is a three-part event.  Those parts include:

  • 5th Grade Band Instrument "Petting Zoo":  Mrs. Nelson arranges for local music shops to bring instruments to Montana City School for students to explore each instrument and then determine which sparks their interests.  This event is held in the evening prior to the parent meeting.
  • 5th Grade Parent Meeting:  Mr. Mikesell explains to parents and students the similarities and differences between 5th grade and middle school and answers any questions and addresses any concerns parents may have for their child transitioning from elementary into middle school.
  • 5th Grade "Shadowing": 5th grade students are paired with a current 6th grade student for a portion of the day to go on a tour of the middle school wing, attend classes to experience a middle school setting, and ask any questions they may have to a peer.

All information regarding these events are included in our weekly Info to Go electronic newsletter, on our Facebook page, and sent in a newsletter with each 5th grade student.
